Kyrgyz Militia Not Prepared to Become Police

Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, 1 August / corr. Trend R.Meshadihasanli / The Kyrgyz militia is not prepared to become the police because of objective and subjective factors, Shamshibek Mamirov, the Kyrgyz Colonel, said.

"The issue on transformation of militia was developed in 2004. However, there are objective and subjective factors," Mamirov, the chief of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry's centre on reformation of interior affairs' bodies, said at a news conference in Bishkek on 1 August.

He considers that the name should be changed when the organization is prepared to transformation.

It requires financing as well.
