BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 1. Kyrgyzstan imported 222,017 tons of wheat from the EAEU countries (Eurasian Economic Union, includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia) in 2022, which is a decrease of 5 percent from 233,905 tons in 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the statistical data, the value of the wheat imports amounted to $57 million in 2022, increasing by 7 percent from $53 in 2021.

In the reporting period of 2022, Kyrgyzstan bought wheat from two members of the EAEU- Russia and Kazakhstan.

The volume of Russian wheat exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to 215,745 tons, increasing by 1.5 times from 138,362 tons in the preceding year.

The value of the exports made up $55 million last year, from $32 million in 2021, which is an increase of 1.7 times.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan exported 6,272 tons of wheat to Kyrgyzstan in 2022. The figure decreased by almost 16 times from 2021 (95,543 tons).

The value of Kazakhs exports amounted to $1.6 million last year from $21 million in 2022.

Meanwhile, the value of trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the EAEU countries amounted to $4.5 billion from January through December 2022, which is an increase of 32 percent from $3.4 billion in the same period of 2021.

The value of Kyrgyz exports to the EAEU reached $1.4 billion last year, increasing by almost 82 percent from $791 million in 2021.

The value of imports from the EAEU to Kyrgyzstan increased by 17 percent in 2022, up to $3 billion from $2.6 billion in 2021.
