BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. Tajikistan’s Khatlon region in the southwest of the country has registered a significant boost in industrial production from January through March 2023, Khalton officials told local reporters, Trend reports via Tajik media.

The region produced industrial goods worth 2.4 billion somoni ($219.9 million) in the first quarter of 2023, increasing over last year’s figures by 231.7 million somoni ($21.2 million).

During the period under review, local entrepreneurs established 52 new enterprises and production workshops in various cities and districts of the region.

Furthermore, in order to promote domestic products among the population, a total of 19,850 tons of meat, 32.5 million eggs, 97 tons of wool, and 726 tons of fish were produced in the Khalton region from January through February 2023.

In addition, officials mentioned that retail trade turnover in the region totaled 3.2 billion somoni ($293.2 million), growing by 15.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2022.

The volume of paid services in real prices rose to 602.1 million somoni ($55.1 million), which is an increase of 3.3 percent over the same period of 2022.

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technology of Tajikistan industrial production in Tajikistan amounted to more than 6.6 billion somoni ($605.3 million) from January through February 2023, increasing by 6.4 percent year-on-year.
