BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. The average prices for eggs and milk in Tajikistan have registered a decrease as of June 12, compared to the prices registered on June 5, Trend reports.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), the average price for 10 pieces of eggs in the retail market of Tajikistan amounted to 11.4 somoni ($1.04), which is a 3-percent decline, compared to the price registered on June 5 -11.7 somoni ($1.07).
In comparison to the previous month, there was registered a decline of 13 percent in egg prices. However, when compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 7 percent.
The price for 10 pieces of eggs in Dushanbe has not changed from the previous report of June 5, amounting to 10 somoni ($0.92). The highest prices were recorded in Murgob city – 20 somoni ($1.83) for 10 eggs.
Meanwhile, the average price for a liter of milk in the retail markets of Tajikistan dropped by 1 percent on the reported date, amounting to 6.5 somoni ($0.6). When compared to the same period in 2022, the price rose by 19 percent.
The price for a liter of milk in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe amounted to 8 somoni ($0.73) and has not changed from the previous week. The highest prices for milk were recorded in the markets of Khorog and Murgob cities – 10 somoni ($10).
WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. The price data is collected through the network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and the average prices are recorded.
