Uzbekistan expands territory of Urgut FEZ

The territory of Urgut free economic zone (FEZ) will be expanded within the framework of resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on measures to further improve the activities of Urgut FEZ, Trend reports citing Norma information and legal portal.

According to the resolution, the territory of Urgut FEZ will be expanded due to the allocation of 50 hectares of the Uramas urban-type settlement of the Urgut district of the Samarkand region (including 27.7 hectares of agricultural land with an unfavorable relief, 56.3 points of soil fertility), as well as 294 hectares (33.6 hectares of agricultural land), located in the Khishrav district of Samarkand region.

It was noted that given the importance of the socio-economic development of the Samarkand region, compensation payments for losses in agriculture and forestry associated with the allocation of land, as an exception, will not be charged.

In addition, the document approved the program for the development of external engineering, communication and road transport infrastructure of the Urgut FEZ.

At the same time, it was determined that the connection of consumers outside the Urgut FEZ to the network of the engineering and communication infrastructure built for the participants of the Urgut FEZ is strictly prohibited.

Urgut FEZ was created in accordance with the decree of the president of Uzbekistan on the creation of Urgut, Gijduvon, Kukon, and Khazarasp free economic zones.

It is reported that 918 hectares of land were allocated in Urgut, Pastdargom, Nurabad districts of Samarkand region, and the city of Samarkand for Urgut FEZ, including investment projects on 278.7 hectares of land, communications, and infrastructure are located on 207.2 hectares of land, 173.1 hectares of land - protected areas and 259 hectares of land are planned to be invested in future projects.
