Tajikistan's ambassador to Tehran said the country is ready to buy Iranian crude oil, Mehr News Agency reported.
Dolat Ali Hatamov said during a press conference in Tehran on Thursday that most of Tajikistan's oil demand is met by Russia, but we are ready to import a part of our oil demand from Iran.
He emphasized the necessity of building a gas pipeline between the two countries.
There is no common border between Iran and Tajikistan. Mr Hatamov did not explain any further information about his pipeline idea.
Tajikistan's daily oil consumption is 38000 barrels a day. Russia supplies 92 percent of Tajikistan's oil demand.
The United State and the European Union adopted sanctions against Iran's crude oil import. The EU will cut Iranian oil in 5 month according the resolution accepted by 27 members of the EU in January.
Iran announced last week that this country banned oil supply to France and the United Kingdom.
He also said that Istiqlal Tunnel project is developed at 90 percent. Iran is constructing Tajikistan's Anzab (Istiqlal) tunnel.
