The number of people suffering from multiple sclerosis increased in Iran.
It is assumed that the reason for the wide spread of the disease are environmental factors, deputy head of the Iranian Society for Multiple Sclerosis Mohammad Sahraian said today, İRNA agency reported.
Sahraian added that the number of such cases among women is four times more than among men.
According to the information, at present, around 50,000 people suffer from multiple sclerosis. If the disease continues developing at the same rate, then every Iranian family will have a patient with multiple sclerosis over the next ten years.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease in which the membrane of nerve fibers of the brain and spinal cord is affected.
