Iran doubles production of renewable energy power stations

Iran's renewable energy power stations doubled their production during first six months of 2019 (from March 21 to September 22) compared to the same period of last year, Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy Homayoon Hayeri said.

Hayeri made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 4th international conference and exhibition on renewable energy in Tehran, Trend reports on Oct. 15 referring to IRNA.

Presently, the production potential of Iran's renewable energy power stations is 841 megawatts, the deputy minister added. Hayeri noted that this figure will increase up to 1,000 megawatts till the end of the year (March 21, 2020).

The deputy minister emphasized that the Iranian ministry of energy plans to bring the production potential of renewable energy power stations up to 4,000 megawatts by the end of the term of the current Cabinet in in August 2021.

He also said that 500 megawatts of renewable energy were supplied to the Iranian grid last summer.
