(Interpressnews) - Increase on electricity tariff will mostly affect Georgias regions, President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili stated at the session of the Energy Commission at the State Chancellery Tuesday.

The session is attended by Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli and representatives of power engineering sector.

The President said that the authorities managed to maintain old power tariff in winter as a result of budgetary subsidy; however, he said it will be impossible to maintain the previous tariff constantly.

Mikheil Saakashvili noted Russias main motivation is to create more problems to each Georgian household.

Georgia is punished for its desire to reclaim territorial integrity and boost economics, Saakashvili underscored.

He pointed up that Georgias reply to this challenge will be as following: the country will still keep going. The President commissioned the cabinet with outlining a correct power tariff policy. Namely, Mikheil Saakashvili asserted that the tariff growth should touch less to those families, consuming less power, while these changes should not affect at all the most vulnerable stratum of society.

We should do our utmost to maximally reduce this thought-out strike, Saakashvili said.

The President underscored that Georgia must apply new tariffs in its own favor. In particular, raised tariffs on power will be helpful for attracting investors in the field.

Saakashvili also gave emphasis to construction of hydro power plants. He said by the end of his 1st Presidential Term, the issue of providing Georgia with hydro power plants must be principally decided, that will be one of the ways of withdrawing the country from a power crisis.
