( dpa ) - Forty per cent, or about 21 million adults, in the Philippines believe in Cupid, the god of love in Roman mythology, according to a survey released Thursday.
The survey by the Social Weather Stations polling institute also showed that among those who believe in Cupid, 85 per cent said their hearts were struck by the mythical god's arrow and made them fall in love.
"Belief in Cupid is similar among men, with 40 per cent, and women, with 41 per cent," the institute said in a statement.
"It is higher among those with at most high school education (43 per cent), some college education (41 per cent) and at least a college degree (40 per cent), compared with at most some elementary education (33 per cent)," it added.
The survey was conducted nationwide in December with 1,200 respondents.
