Afghan and NATO-led forces eliminated eight Taliban militants during search operation in Afghanistan's Wardak province, 35 km west of capital Kabul, a statement of provincial administration received here Saturday said, Xinhua reported.
"Afghan and international forces conducted a search operation in Nurkh district Friday night but the targeted militants encountered the joint forces and the troops returned fire killing eight militants including a local commander namely Mohammad Gul," the statement added.
"No member of the joint forces was harmed during the operation, " it further said.
Taliban militants, who speed up their assaults against Afghan and NATO-led forces, have yet to make comments.
