One person was killed in an explosion Monday at a nuclear waste processing facility at Marcoule in southern France, a spokeswoman for the operator of the facility, which is run by a subsidiary of EDF electricity company, told the German Press Agency dpa.
The spokeswoman said the blast took place in an incinerator that processes waste with a low level of radioactivity.
The cause of the blast was unknown.
France 3 public television reported that one person was killed and three injured.
BFM private television quoted the local prefecture as saying there was a risk of radioactive material leaking.
