By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:
Terrorists from the Lebanon-based Hezbollah movement are responsible for the death of thousands of innocent civilians in Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.
He said that the Hezbollah movement, which supports the Syrian regime, caused the death of over 200,000 people, Haber7 TV channel reported on Jan.19.
Cavusoglu added that Hezbollah has no right to accuse Turkey of supporting terrorism.
Earlier, head of Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah accused Turkey of supporting terrorists in Syria.
Moreover, he previously said that Hezbollah intends to further support Syrian authorities in combating the rebels.
Following Nasrallah's statement, the Syrian opposition shelled Shiite neighborhoods of Beirut, and promised to strike other targets in Lebanon. Syrian rebels demanded the Lebanese government to put an end to Hezbollah's activity against the opposition.
The organization's head also said the members of Hezbollah will not leave Syria.
During the conflict in Syria, which began in March 2011, over 150,000 people were killed and over 4.2 million have become refugees in Syrian territory, as well as 2.3 million have fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving refugees lay on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict amounted to 20 million.
