Turkish ports handled 86,620 tons of cargo from Azerbaijan in 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.
In 2021, the ports of Turkey did not transship freight from Azerbaijan by ships flying the Turkish flag.
"According to the results of 2021, ships under the flag of Azerbaijan delivered 4,599 tons of cargo to Turkish ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries – 82,021 tons," the ministry said.
Turkish ports did not handle transit goods from Azerbaijan in 2021.
In general, Turkey transported 386,396,718 tons of cargo in 2021 via its ports.
During the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey through domestic ports amounted to 29,999,196 tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries reached 356,397,522 tons.
In addition, Turkish ports transshipped 78,008,944 tons of transit cargo in 2021, while in December this figure totaled 7,224,39 tons of transit cargo.
Freight traffic via the ports by ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 2,551,203 tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries - 32,893,234 tons.
Last December, Turkish ports handled 35,444,437 tons of cargo.
