Azerbaijan and Macedonia have a potential for development of bilateral relations in trade and investments, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev said at the Azerbaijani-Macedonian Business Forum in Baku Sept. 9.

"The relations between the two countries are being developed successfully, particularly in the political sphere," he said.

"Despite the two countries signed two agreements on avoidance of double taxation and investment promotion and an appropriate legal framework was created, the indices of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Macedonia do not correspond to the potential of the two countries," the minister said.

Mustafayev spoke about the achievements of Azerbaijan in the economic field and urged the Azerbaijani and Macedonian businessmen to invest in the economy between the two countries.

Azerbaijan can enter the European market via Macedonia, while Macedonia - to the Asian market, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zoran Stavreski said at the event.

"Azerbaijan and Macedonia have stable political and macroeconomic situation," he said. "This is a good opportunity for the creation of effective trade and investment ties between the two countries. Both countries have good potential for the development of these areas, which continues to grow."

Macedonian Deputy Executive Director of the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion Kliment Sekerovski made a presentation on the opportunities of Macedonia in the field of business and investment.
