The US Senate approved Pamela Spratlen's appointment as the ambassador to Uzbekistan, the US media reported.

Spratlen is a career diplomat. She worked at the US Embassy in Guatemala, the mission of the country in the Organization of American States (OAS), the mission of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Spratlen was the coordinator of technical assistance programs at the US Embassy in Moscow, Consul General in Vladivostok, a special assistant to the advisor at the State Department.

Spratlen was the head of the Central Asian department at the State Department, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia, the head of Western Europe department, Deputy Chief of the Mission of the US Embassy in Kazakhstan.

Spratlen has served as the head of the US diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan since 2011.

Currently, George Krol is the US ambassador to Uzbekistan. He took office in 2010. His diplomatic mission will be completed in the country this year.

Henry L. Clarke (1992-1995), Stanley Escudero (1995-1997), Joseph A. Presel (1997-2000), John Herbst (2000-2003), Jon Purnell (2004-2007) and Richard Norland (2007-2010) served as the US Ambassadors to Uzbekistan since 1992.
