Free passage of Kyrgyzstan's Batken region's residents through Uzbek enclaves Sokh Shakhimardan has been ensured, KyrTAG reports on Saturday with reference to the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan.
"From Feb.1, a checkpoint started its operation on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border "Kadamjai" (Kyrgyzstan) -"Vuadil" (Uzbekistan) for the residents of Batken and Ferghana regions," Kyrgyz Border Service said.
As it was noted, free traffic has been opened for Kyrgyz citizens through the route Pulgon - Kok-Talaa in Kadamjay region (Kyrgystan).
"The parties undertook an obligation to ensure free passage of residents of Batken region of Kyrgyzstan through Sokh and Shakhimardan enclaves of Uzbekistan," the report says.
At present, negotiations are underway about possible opening of other crossing points on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.
