There is only one way for West, cooperation instead of confrontation - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday IAEA inspection of the Parchin base near Tehran would be possible if the country's right to a civilian nuclear programme were acknowledged.

"Expert teams are currently negotiating on inspection of Parchin but one thing is clear: Iran's legitimate rights to pursue a peaceful nuclear programme must be acknowledged," reported ISNA.

"Furthermore, we have become a country with nuclear technology and there is no way back from this. Considering this fact, there is only one way for West: cooperation instead of confrontation," he added.

In a series of meetings over the past year, both sides have been unable to agree on the conditions under which such investigations would go forward, DPA reported.

Iran is to resume nuclear negotiations with the six world powers later this month in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and the results of talks with the IAEA could have an impact on a possible settlement of the dispute which has been going on for more than a decade.
