Georgian government calls on Muslims of Chela village of Adigen district (Southern Georgia) to obtain permission to construct minaret on the local mosque that was dismantled by the authorities.

For these purposes it is necessary to apply to the relevant government agencies, the statement of State Minister for Reintegration said. The statement was shown on behalf of Georgian Government.

Dismantling of the mosque's minaret in Chela village was carried out by the authorities on August 26 and caused protests from Muslim community.

Revenue Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry told that the expertise on construction of a minaret is completed and they found violations during the customs clearance procedures during its import from Turkey to Georgia in July.

According to Georgian government, the construction of the minaret was in violation of the law, and it is necessary to be more careful when it comes to religious feelings.

"Due to the fact that we wish to assisst people in the implementation of their religious rights, we call on the Muslim Ummah to apply to statutory state agencies to seek legal construction of the minaret," the statement of State Minister for Reintegration said.
