Ukraine-NATO commission holds meeting in Brussels
Ukraine, Kiev, Jan.19 / Trend corr Z. Novsvitskiy / A meeting of Ukraine-NATO commission presided by Secretary General of the alliance Jaap De Hoop Scheffer was held in the NATO headquarters (Brussels) on Jan.16.
The meeting, being the first event within the political dialogue of Ukraine with the Alliance in 2009, focused on the results of the meeting of foreign ministers in December 2008.
The participants evaluated the progress of the Ukraine within the Intensified Dialogue and the process of implementing the action plan and its annual plans within it. A proposal was made on further improvement of the political dialogue and practical cooperation.
On the request of the ambassadors of NATO member states, the chairman of the Ukrainian mission in NATO informed the participants of the situation regarding the Russian gas supply to Europe and the position of Ukraine in this regard.
