Man held in burglary of museum of Soviet Hero Hazi Aslanov

A house-museum of Azerbaijani Major General Hazi Aslanov, who was twice named a Hero of the Soviet Union, was burgled Wednesday morning, the head of the Lankaran City Police Department investigation department, Polad Mehdiyev, told trend.

A house-museum of Azerbaijani Major General Hazi Aslanov, who was twice named a Hero of the Soviet Union, was burgled Wednesday morning, the head of the Lankaran City Police Department investigation department, Polad Mehdiyev, told trend.

He said the burglar stole rare and precious exhibits, including Aslanov's watch.

Police have detained 42-year old Elchin Rahimov, who has been described as a drug abuser, in connection with the case.

Police found items stolen from the museum in Rahimov's house at 29 S. Vurgun Street. Some of them were broken or damaged.

A criminal case has been launched.

Lankaran is located 270 kilometers south from Baku.
