(stuff.co.nz) - David Beckham could soon be swapping his soccer boots for work boots if Nicole Kidman gets her way and signs him up for Baz Lurhmann's latest film, Australia.
The Oscar-winning actress has reportedly suggested to Lurhmann that Beckham, who this week thrilled soccer fans during a match with his LA Galaxy teammates against Sydney FC, would be ideal to play a labourer in the epic outback saga.
"Nicole let slip that she thought David would be perfect to play a labourer in the film and Baz agrees," an unnamed source told the Daily Star.
"Apparently Baz thinks David would be great in Australia. He has all the perfect qualities for the role and is so humble, he would be brilliant.
"At the moment, there are a lot of things up in the air regarding the film as it has already taken nine months to get this far.
"It's only a small role, but everyone is hoping David will consider doing it."
