Azerbaijanis in Russia Should Fight against Xenophobia and Extremism Together: President of AZERROS FNCA

Russia, Moscow, 2 February / corr. Trend R. Agayev/ Azerbaijanis living in Russia should join their efforts in fighting against the xenophobia and extremism, Soyun Sadigov, the President of AZERROS, the Federal National and Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in Russia said.

"Azerbaijanis living in Russia should be more integrated to the Russian community," Sadigov said on 2 February addressing the annual meeting of AZERROS in Moscow. According to him, the main purpose of FNCA is the maintenance of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and not to let Azerbaijanis to lose their culture and language.

Sadigov said that AZERROS cooperates with the Moscow city administration on the migration issues to facilitate the adaptation of Azerbaijanis to the new migration legislation of Russia. The center for the solution of the migration problems has been established at AZERROS, he said.

According to Sadigov, one of the main problems of Azerbaijanis living in Russia is the elements of the national oppression that Azerbaijanis face in the public service bodies. "No Azerbaijani is elected to the State Duma of Russian Federation; this is accidental or a deliberate mistake of the some parties. Azerbaijanis should be represented in the State Duma in the future," he said.

The welcoming telegrams of Mironov, the speaker of the parliament and Grizlov, the chairman of the State Duma were read out.
