Herbst wins men's slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

(dpa) - Austria's Reinfried Herbst won the men's slalom World Cup race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen Saturday, beating Manfred Moelgg into second place.

Herbst claimed victory with a combined time of 1 minute 42.00 seconds to finish 65 hundredths ahead of the Italian. Ivica Kostelic of Croatia took third in a time of 1:43.18 minutes to complete the podium placings.
