Spain coach Luis Aragones confirmed what
everyone already expected Tuesday by saying he will rest his key players in
Wednesday's final Group D game against Greece in Salzburg, dpa reported.
Aragones said that with Spain already guaranteed to finish top of the
group, it was only logical for him to rest as many of those players who took
part in the victories over Russia and Sweden as possible.
"A coach has to be intelligent enough to know what to do when his team has
already qualified," said the 69-year-old. "The players who have
played need to rest."
Even though there is nothing riding on the game - Greece have already been
eliminated - Aragones said he still expected his team to "show why they
are here" in Austria and Switzerland.
"I play to win - all the time," he said.
