Journalist and blogger Ibrahim Rashidi (Savalan), who has taken a peaceful approach to supporting the rights of Azerbaijanis in Iran, was arrested in Ardebil today, Azerbaijani Political Prisoners Committee member Yashar Hakkakpour told Trend over the telephone from Turkey.
Rashidi called his relatives June 17 and said he had been arrested by the Iranian secret service (ETTELAAT). He noted that he had been arrested in the Sareyin Duragi district.
The ETTELAAT seized books and manuscripts from his father's house several months ago.
Earlier, the journalist had been arrested and imprisoned several times.
Last month 45 Azerbaijani activists were arrested in Iran. Seventeen are in prison, and 28 were released on bail.
