Azerbaijan took nineteenth place at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand, the Azerbaijani National Paralympic Committee reported.

Azerbaijan took nineteenth place at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand, the Azerbaijani National Paralympic Committee reported.

Azerbaijani athletes ranked nineteenth among 78 national teams and won three gold medals, one silvers and two bronzes. Athlete Oleg Panyutin won the gold medals in the long jump and triple jump length in the category of athletes with poor eyesight and Huseyin Hasanov -in the triple long jump in the category of amputees, Muradov Elchin -one silver in the run 100 meters and Huseyin Hasanov and Vladimir Zajats bronze medals (in the long jump and in triple jump, respectively).

Athlete Olokhan Musayev took the first place in the category in throwing the nucleus, breaking the record of the World Championships. However, he finished in sixth place due to the fact that the scoring was carried out in three categories in the summary table.
