Azerbaijani Ombudsman's National Preventive Group members, under an instruction by Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova, inspected the temporary detention place and detention center of Azerbaijani National Security Ministry, the press service of ombudsman's office told Trend Aug. 25.
They also inspected the Baku Detention Center of the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijani Justice Ministry, according to the press service.
Meetings were held in the temporary detention place and detention center of the National Security Ministry with over 15 persons held there, including Arif Yunusov.
At the meeting, Yunusov did not express complaints about the conditions of detention and treatment, but at the same time pointed out that before his arrest he had problems with his health.
During the conversation with the medical unit's doctor, he noted that Yunusov is constantly undergoing tests and his health is under control.
At the Baku Detention Center, meetings were held with over 20 persons held there, including Intigam Aliyev, Parviz Hashimli, Leyla Yunusova, Faraj Karimli, Siraj Karimli, Rasul Jafarov, and Murad Adilov.
The treatment of these prisoners was also inspected.
At the meeting, they expressed no complaints. At the same time they expressed dissatisfaction with the initiation of a criminal case against them.
During the inspection and assessment of the overall situation in the cells, no violation of internal discipline rules, approved by the cabinet of ministers, was recorded, and at the same time, several proposals made by these persons were discussed with the detention center's management.
It was also found out that each of the above mentioned persons met with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
After the visit, the ombudsman appealed to the relevant authorities and it was found that Yunusovs are provided with all corresponding parcels and medicines.
