DEVELOPMENT OF STRATEGY ON LIQUIDATION OF HARD WASTES COMES TO END

Society Materials 27 September 2005 16:52 (UTC +04:00)

Development of the strategy on liquidation of solid wastes is coming to an end, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) Huseyn Bagirov told Trend on 27 September 2005. According to him, several options are envisioned in the framework of the strategy, one of which is establishing the network of the processing plants where the wastes will be sorted out and part of them will be sent to recycling.

The wastes resisting to recycling will be berried on polygons.

The Ministry initiates also construction of the new electrical station in the country using the wastes of the oil industry and construction activities as the alternative fuel, Bagirov stressed.

"About $100-110 million will be needed for constructing such a station. The cost of such electrical station is more expensive than the usual ones, however, there will be double use here, both for the environment and for the expanding of the generating capacities", - Bagirov said.

The stations’ production capacity may be some 112 MVt, while 20% of fuel for the electrical energy production will be traditional, the rest are the wastes, subject to burning.
