Special operations in Kodori hinder tourism companies

The Georgian tourist firms have problems in connection with tours of Svaneti.

Trend special correspondent has been told at the leading Georgian tourist companies that at the clients demand the tours of Svaneti have been cancelled. They are they are threatening of their security and prefer to wait until the completion of the armed operations in Kodori gauge.

Only in August around 300 tourists were to travel via the Zugudi-Khaishi-Mestia route. However, on 27 July the tourists from the United States and Slovenia will be returned from Svaneti (through Khaishi) at the clients demand. Police will accompany the tourists to ensure their security.

Heads of tourism firms said the special operations in the gauge damages the tourism image not only of Svaneti, but also of Georgia in whole.
