4th Conference of Education Ministers of OIC Countries to Be Held in Baku

The fourth Conference of Education Ministers of the Organization for the Islamic Conference (OIC) is expected to be held in Baku, Misir Mardanov, Azerbaijan Education Minister informed journalists during the press-conference at the third OIC Countries Education Ministers Conference held in Kuwait on November 19-21. During the conference, it was decided that the next conference will be held in the Azerbaijani Capital, Trend reports.

A delegation headed by Azerbaijan Education Minister, Misir Mardanov represented Azerbaijan in that event. Giving a speech during the conference, Mr. Mardanov marked the importance of the event for the Muslim countries. He also pointed out the great contribution of the Islamic World to the development of the whole humankind civilization. According to the Azerbaijani Minister, one of the major ideas of the conference was to discuss the development of science and technologies in Muslim countries, as well as prepare and train skilled professionals for this field.

The Education Minister also brought to the attention of participants of the Conference that as a result of Armenia military aggression against Azerbaijan, 20% of the Azerbaijani territory is occupied, and over a million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. Mr. Mardanov said that all Azerbaijani religious and cultural monuments have destroyed, the unique samples of the Holy Koran burned, mosques and over 1,000 educational institutions ruined.

Within the participation in the conference, Mr. Mardanov met Adil Tabatei, Kuwait Education Minister, Abdulaziz al-Varidj, Secretary General of the Islamic Education, Science, and Culture Organization (ISESCO), as well as the Malaysian Education Ministry, and the Rector of the Kuwaiti University.
