BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar.15
By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:
If Azerbaijan Railways CJSC needs to expand its electric locomotive fleet in the future, Alstom is ready to supply it with the most powerful and modern freight and passenger locomotives, Alstom Managing Director in Western and Central Asia, Guillaume Tritter, told Trend.
Tritter noted that the Azerbaijan Railways plans to restore the Baku-Nakhchivan-Turkey railway line, and, depending on the needs, new electric locomotives may be required for operation.
"We are interested in offering signaling, centralization, and blocking solutions and technology for this and other railways in Azerbaijan," Tritter added.
According to the director, Alstom focuses on the growing demand for public transport and, especially, can offer smart and green solutions for urban mobility, such as modern LRT (light rail), which would fit perfectly into the architectural landscape of Baku.
“We have a wealth of experience with turnkey LRT projects around the world,” Tritter said.
He noted that the company understands that the Azerbaijani government gives priority to the restoration of its territories liberated from Armenian occupation.
"Alstom would be honored to be involved in rail infrastructure or urban mobility projects in these regions," Tritter said.
