BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan manufactured products worth 18.6 billion manat ($10.9 billion) from January through March 2023, which is 3.2 percent less than in the same period last year, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, during the reporting period of 2023, production in the oil and gas sector decreased by 4 percent, while in the non-oil sector increased by 4.7 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.
At the same time, 72 percent of industrial output accounted for the mining sector, 22.6 percent - for the manufacturing industry, 4.7 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.7 percent - for the water supply, waste treatment and recycling sectors.
Meanwhile, commercial oil production in Azerbaijan declined by 7.4 percent in the accounting period, while commercial gas production grew by 1.1 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
The growth in the production of building materials in the processing industry for the year amounted to 25.8 percent, while the production increase of cars, trailers and semi-trailers grew 2.1 times. At the same time, the growth of electrical equipment production accounted for 25.8 percent, while clothing - for 17.3 percent, machinery and its spare parts - for 25.4 percent, leather and leather goods - for 8.2 percent, paper and cardboard - for 44.4 percent, lumber and products made of it - for 78 percent, textile industry - 28 percent, computer and optical products - for 35.7 percent, beverages - for 25.1 percent, pharmaceutical products - for 68.8 percent, tobacco products - 6.6 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 16.9 percent, food products - for 13.6 percent, furniture - for 1 percent, and petroleum products for 0.5 percent.
According to the statistics, from January through March 2023, production in the chemical industry decreased by 11.2 percent, while the metallurgical industry declined by 44.2 percent, and finished metal products - by 1.3 percent.
Moreover, the volume of production in the sector of generation, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam grew by 6.1 percent this year, while in the sector of water supply, waste treatment and recycling increased by 21.8 percent year-on-year.
In addition, industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan manufactured products worth 86 billion manat ($58 billion) in the current year, which is 1.1 percent less than in 2021.
