BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. About 5.1 million tons of cargo from January through March 2023, were transported from Egypt to the ports of Türkiye, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, ships under the flag of Türkiye delivered 437,278 tons of cargo from Egypt, and ships under the flags of other countries transshipped 4.6 million tons.
During this time, ships under the Egyptian flag delivered 5,085 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. Around 311,077 tons of transit cargo were transported from Egypt to the mentioned ports.
Moreover, the ports of Türkiye in March of the current year received 31.9 million tons of cargo.
During this period, cargo traffic to domestic ports on ships under the countryı's flag amounted to 2.3 million tons.
Meanwhile, cargo transportation of ships under the flags of other countries to the above ports amounted to 29.6 million tons.
In addition, almost 6.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports in the third month of the current year.
According to the ministry, the ports received 91.5 million tons of cargo in the first three months of this year.
To note, in the reporting period, cargo acceptance by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 6.4 million tons, while by ships under the flags of foreign countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye reached 85.8 million tons.
The report also says that, in the accounting period of 2023, approximately 18.3 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports.
