BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12. The ports of Türkiye received 4,816 vessels in April of this year, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the information, the number of ships under the flags of other countries received by the ports of Türkiye amounted to 1,469, and ships under the flag of Türkiye - 3,347 during this period.
The ports of Türkiye received 17,612 vessels from January through April 2023.
"During this time, the number of ships under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 5,163, and ships under the Turkish flag - 12,449," the ministry said.
Due to its geopolitical characteristics, the sea route is consequential for Türkiye in freight and passenger transportation. There are more than 180 ports in the country.
The major ports in Türkiye see record maritime traffic annually, the majority through the Mediterranean waters and the Black Sea.
