Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 February / corr Trend S.Aliyev / This year AZN 15mln has been allocated for the establishment of the intellectual transport management system, Jeyhun Abdullayev, the head of the Baku City Passenger Transport Department, said on 26 February. Work over establishment of the system will be set up soon, he said.
"The premises have been allocated at the Heydar Aliyev Ave, where the dispatch center will be placed," he said.
The South Korean Consortium SK C& S held research in applying the intelligence transportation system in Baku and relevant recommendations were presented to the country's government.
As a result of the implementation of such a system, the number of traffic lights and bus stops will be regulated, Mammadov said. Creating this system will provide an opportunity to send operative information regarding the movements of transportation means, speeds, stops, traffic accidents, traffic jams, and other events to a dispatch centre.
According to initial accounts, the system will be created in two stages. In the first stage, by the end of 2008, the system will be installed in the centre of Baku in the direction of Heydar Aliyev Avenue up to the Azizbayov round in Baku. In the second stage, the system will be expanded throughout the capital. The project will be completed by the end of 2009.
The goal of the creation of such a system in Baku is to manage the transportation system - including the transportation of passengers, automobile routes, dissolution of traffic jams, and parking management.
The cost of the project to establish the system is estimated at $50-55mln.
