The Azerbaijan foot and mouth(FMD), epidemic and other acute infectious animal diseases are under control, the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday.
Earlier there was a story in the media about the spread of FMD among livestock in the non-occupied territories of Aghdam, particularly in the Alybeyli and Beyukbeyli rural areas.
"This information is baseless and untrue. Arrangements to vaccinate against FMD in Azerbaijan were held on time. An epizootic situation on acute infectious diseases is stable not only in Aghdam, but generally in the country," a statement said.
It also notes that there are no cases of FMD disease due to implementation of preventive measures against foot and mouth disease in recent years in Azerbaijan. Large and small cattle susceptible to this disease have been vaccinated during April-May and October-November 2011 in Azerbaijan as in previous years.
