Minister: Turkey develops all country's regions

Turkey pursues a tourism policy in all of its regions, the Zaman newspaper quotes Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay as saying on Friday.

"Despite the fact that funds allocated for implementation of all projects is not enough, the Ministry attracts benefactors for this.

According to the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, the number of foreign tourists arriving in Turkey decreased by 2.3 percent in January-June 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, reaching 12.7 million people.

In June, the number of tourists visiting Turkey increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same month in 2011, and reached 3.8 million people.

The number of tourists in June grew by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month.

Some 33.2 percent of the total number of tourists visited Istanbul, 30.5 percent - Antalya.

Other tourists mainly visited Izmir, Batman and Adana.

In January-June, most tourists visiting Turkey came from Germany - 15 percent of the total number, Russia - 11 percent, the UK - 7.4 percent.
