Document-related problems around S-300 delivery to Iran solved

Moscow and Tehran solved all the document-related problems regarding Russian S-300 missile systems' delivery to Iran, RIA Novosti quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying Oct. 13.

"For the most part, the preparatory process has been completed," he said. "Therefore, I see no obstacles."

Russia and Iran signed a contract for delivery of five S-300 battalions in 2007, but in 2010, Dmitry Medvedev, who was then president of Russia, banned the supply of these systems to Tehran.

The contract worth over $800 million was cancelled, and the advance payment was returned to the Iranian side.

However, in 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on the delivery of S-300 systems to Iran.
