A mining database will be created for the first time in Iran’s Kerman province within the next month, said Mehdi Hoseini Nejad, Head of Kerman Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization.

It is planned to implement 43 economic projects in mining industry in the current Iranian year, SHATA news agency quoted him as saying.

“The work on the projects in mining industry is already complete and the facilities are ready for commissioning. It is planned to put into operation 12 facilities this year. The main task in the implementation of projects is to create communication between small and big companies. We put efforts to ensure the development of small companies,” he added.

The most important mines in Iran include coal, metallic minerals, sand and gravel, chemical minerals and salt. Khorasan has the most operating mines in Iran. Other large deposits which mostly remain underdeveloped are zinc, copper, iron, uranium and lead.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Perspective in Industry, Mine and Trade Sector by 2025 envisages the following: ranking first in the region in the field of industry, mine and trade; creating a diversified economy with a dominant share for non-oil and non-governmental sector; creating a competitive atmosphere compliant with international standards; moving toward development on the basis of advanced technologies; diversity in export-based products and production and creating trade balance between non-oil exports and imports
