Ukraine’s Marine Engineering Bureau plans to build new vessels in Azerbaijan

Marine Engineering Bureau in Ukraine’s Odessa city plans to design, jointly with Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), new vessels to be constructed at the Baku Shipyard LLC, Gennady Egorov, Director General of the Bureau, told Trend.

He said that the Bureau is also ready to assist Azerbaijan in training of engineering personnel.

Talking about the future projects, he noted that there are plans to build new tankers carrying chemical products with deadweight (net carrying capacity) of 7,875 tons.

“Under current joint projects, four vessels are being built at the Baku Shipyard by the order of ASCO,” he said. “The readiness of the main tanker of the project “RST12C Lachin” is 86 percent.”

He added that the tanker was set afloat on Februry 21, 2019, and its commissioning is expected in August 2019.

The readiness of the second tanker “Kalbajar” is 60 percent, and its commissioning is expected in 2020, he said.

The next project includes construction of rail-road-passenger ferries for the Caspian lines of the CNF18C project, he noted. In his words, two vessels are being built at the Baku Shipyard on the order of ASCO within the project implementation. “The readiness of the CNF18C main cargo and passenger ferry is 71 percent. It is expected to set it afloat in June 2019 and commission at the end of 2019. The second ferry is 45 percent ready,” Egorov said.

He added that three new cutters with length of 26 meters and engine power of 313 kilowatts are being built at the new site of the Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Yard.
