Kazakhstan projected to boost wheat production volumes

Kazakhstan is projected to produce 12.5 million metric tons of wheat in January 2021, which will be 9.15 percent more than during the same month of 2020, Trend reports citing United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Total coarse grain production in Kazakhstan is expected to be 5.1 million metric tons with an increase of 0.71 percent year-on-year, barley production is forecast to be 3.8 million metric tons, which is to be 0.78 percent less than during the same month of 2020.

Furthermore, oats production is projected to be 0.3 million metric tons, with an annual increase of 12.36 percent, whereas rye productions is expected to be 0.02 million metric tons (down by 13.04 percent year-on-year).

Cottonseed production is expected to by 0.11 million metric tons with an annual decrease by 25.53 percent, sunflowerseed production is to be 0.75 million metric tons with an annual decrease of 18.3 percent.

The report also noted that the rapeseed production in Kazakhstan is expected to be 0.13 million metric tons (drop by 48.13 percent annual).

Kazakhstan’s agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output amounted to 5.92 trillion tenge ($14.1 billion) over 11 months of 2020, which is 5.3 percent more compared to the same period of the last year.

Some 5.9 trillion tenge ($14 billion) accounted for agriculture alone including 3.5 trillion ($8.5 billion) accounting for plant growing, and 2.3 trillion tenge ($5.4 billion) - for animal husbandry.

The increase in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery gross output during the reporting period was due to the increase of plant growing volume by 7.2 percent, slaughter volumes of livestock and poultry in live weight by 3.7 percent, and yield of raw cow's milk by 3.2 percent.
