Industrial and mining facilities launched in Iran

Four industrial and mining facilities worth 85.2 trillion rials (about $2.02 billion) were launched in three provinces of Iran today on February 18, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.

According to the report, 1,360 people were provided with jobs with the launch of these facilities.

“A steel pellet plant of Maad Koush Iron Ore Pelletizing Company in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) was launched. The plant will produce 2.5 million tons of steel pellets per year. About 23.2 trillion rials (about $552 million) was spent on the construction of the plant, and 360 people were employed,” the report said.

In addition, the first part of the Parsian special economic zone in Iran's Hormozgan Province was launched. It is possible to load and unload 11.6 million tons of cargo here. About 16.5 trillion rials (about $392 million) was spent on this part and 200 people were employed, the report said.

According to the report, a steel pellet plant owned by Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company in the Kerman Province (southeastern Iran) was put into operation. The plant will produce 5 million tons of pellets annually. A total of 38.3 trillion rials (about $911 million) was spent on the construction of the plant, and 500 people were employed.

“At the same time, a terminal for the agricultural exports was launched in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran). The terminal was built on an area of 31 hectares of land. The capacity of the export terminal is more than 364,000 tons. The government spent $5.2 million and 6 trillion rials (about $142 million) on the terminal and 300 people were employed,” the report said.
