The East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), especially the Tabriz city, is considered one of main industrial poles in Iran, Deputy Governor of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province on economic issues Ali Jahangiri told Trend.
Jahangiri emphasized that there are about 4,000 enterprises and factories, as well as, 27 manufacturing workshops in the East Azerbaijan Province.
The deputy governor added that many factories are fully self-sufficient in production. For example, there is great potential in the production of glass, machinery, spare parts. There are more than 400 enterprises operating in the field of mechanical engineering. Equipment and machinery are produced in the automotive, oil and gas and other industries.
“In addition, about 50 percent of footwear production in Iran accounts for the East Azerbaijan Province,” he said.
Jahangiri noted that about 10 percent of Iran's non-oil exports accounts for the East Azerbaijan Province. The value of exports from the East Azerbaijan Province of Iran amounted to about $3 billion over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
