Turkmenistan plans to build an enterprise for the production of glycyrrhizic acid, Trend reports citing Business Turkmenistan.
The enterprise will operate in the structure of the Buýan agro-industrial complex of the Türkmendermansenagat association in Turkmenabat, Lebap region.
A memorandum on the preparation of an enterprise project for the production of unrefined glycyrrhizic acid by processing licorice was signed between the Health and Medical Industry Ministry of Turkmenistan and the Italian company Adipson Ind. Srl., as part of the official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Italy in November 2019.
The private enterprise Mizemez gadam won the tender for the construction of this enterprise.
Glycyrrhizic acid, found in licorice roots, is used as a topical antiviral agent.
Turkmen licorice is notable for its valuable properties. It is high in vitamin C and essential oils and has been used for centuries to boost the immune system, treat colds, and treat kidney and kidney stone problems. It is also used to make soft drinks in the food industry.
Glycyrrhizic acid lowers viral load, reduces inflammation, and alleviates pain. Its derivatives are used to treat the liver and as a component of antiviral therapy.
