Luxembourg's SES S.A. is currently involved in Kazakhstan’s governmental program to accelerate country’s economy’s development pace, the company told Trend.
The program in question is “Technological breakthrough via digitalisation, science and innovation”, designed to accelerate the development pace of the Kazakhstan’s economy and improve the quality of life by implementing digital inclusion programmes.
Within the framework of this project, in November 2021, SES along with the Republican Centre for Space Communications (RCSC) and AsiaNetCom have performed a demonstration of SES’s current O3b satellite constellation by connecting two remote villages with high-speed internet.
During the demo that lasted till end of 2021, SES has achieved record-breaking speeds via satellite in the country with 380Mbps downlink and 120Mbps uplink.
Moreover, as part of the demonstration, SES has also been working with the project’s official commission, which includes representatives of Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, to determine the successfulness and capabilities of the satellite-enabled internet connectivity.
During the commission’s official visit, multiple applications have been tested successfully, such as ability to watch videos and perform video calls and a new record of 419Mbps downlink and 149Mbps uplink has been set.
