BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The area of olive orchards in Iran expanded by 2,400 hectares, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), an official, responsible for the 'olive plan' of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran, Javad Mirarab Razi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
In addition, restoration work was carried out in 9,425 hectares of olive orchards in the country for the last Iranian year, the official said.
According to Mirarab Razi, it is planned to expand the area of olive orchards in the country by 4,500 hectares, as well as to carry out restoration work in 15,000 hectares of orchards for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023).
The official also noted that Iran is implementing a program on the cultivation of olive trees in all provinces.
There were 75,000 hectares of olive orchards in Iran over the last Iranian year, of which, 58,000 hectares are productive, while 17,000 hectares - are unproductive.
