Spy Shots: Next-generation 2009 Audi A8

(autoinsidernews) - Spy photographers caught another test mule of Audi's next-generation A8 during cold weather testing. While still wearing the body of the current generation model, the next A8 will ride on Audi's MLP (Modular Longitudinal Platform) which it will share with the A4, A5, Q5 and A6. While the differences between the testing mule and the current model are hard to see, the key clue to the changes are the extra-wide fenders flares seen on the mule, reports Trend.

The next-generation is expected to feature significant handling improvements, with a lower weight and better distribution of it. The next A8 is expected to be offered with the 500-hp and 737 lb-ft of torque.V12 diesel engine which recently debuted in the Q7 V12 TDI.

The next generation A8 expected to debut in 2009.
