Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 February / Trend corr. S.Aliyev / Azerbaijan and Iran will sign an agreement for the sale of Azerbaijani gas, Alikhan Malikov, the head of Azerigas CJSC, said.
According to Malikov, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will finalise the contract. The gas transportation will be implemented by Azerigas line.
Azerbaijan is able to transport about 2mln cu m of gas to Iran per day. This volume of gas will exceed the volume of gas that is currently transported to Iran in order to provide the gas demand of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan.
Presently, negotiations are being held to set the price and volume of delivered gas. Iran had demonstrated its interest in purchasing Azerbaijani gas.
