SOCAR prepares for opening other gas stations in Azerbaijan

The Sate Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to open two more gas stations under its own brand in Azerbaijan in the near future, a source in SOCAR said.

The Sate Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to open two more gas stations under its own brand in Azerbaijan in the near future, a source in SOCAR said.

According to the source, one of the gas stations will be commissioned in the Alat settlement, and the second on the Baku-Guba highway.

"In the near future these stations will be opened," the source said.

The company opened two gas stations a month ago. One of them is located near the Sabunchu circle and the second - on the road to the Gala village.

Head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev said the company will have 10 gas stations in Azerbaijan by late 2010. The company plans to open a total of 26-30 gas stations in Azerbaijan, he added. Investments in their construction will top 20 million manat.  

The first three gas stations under SOCAR brand were opened May 7, 2010. All three gas stations are located in Baku - on the highway leading to the Baku International Airport named after Heydar Aliyev, Zikh highway and Bibi-Heybat.

It is planned to open 10 more gas stations in Azerbaijan next year.

SOCAR Petroleum's shareholders are SOCAR (51 percent) and the U.S AP International (49 percent). SOCAR Petroleum was registered Jan. 21, 2008
